At the recent Tiny Desk Meets globalFEST event, Malian-born singer, songwriter, and guitarist Rokia Traoré delivered a mesmerizing performance from Blues Faso, a theater in Mali. Traoré's music is deeply rooted in the Malian tradition but also transcends cultural boundaries, thanks to her nomadic upbringing and exposure to diverse musical influences. The set, which closed out the 2021 globalFEST, showcased Traoré's talent and showcased her support for emerging artists through her Foundation Passerelle.
