About
Iron & Wine, known for the solo acoustic musings of Sam Beam, has evolved into a full band with an elastic sound that incorporates guitar solos, backup singers, and even a saxophone. Recently, Beam and his band performed their album "Kiss Each Other Clean" in its entirety at WNYC's Greene Space with a roots-rock vibe. Despite this, Beam has been giving stripped-down solo performances of the new songs, such as at a Tiny Desk concert in the NPR Music offices. Beam, born Samuel Ervin Beam, is an American singer-songwriter known for his six studio albums and mesmerizing ballads like his cover of The Postal Service's "Such Great Heights." The name Iron & Wine was inspired by a dietary supplement Beam found in a general store while shooting a film.
