NPR Music's Tiny Desk (home) concerts recently featured Rina Sawayama, a Japanese British pop star known for her dynamic performances and versatile musical style. The concert showcased Sawayama's intense energy and theatricality reminiscent of her debut album SAWAYAMA, which combines elements of early aughts R&B, nu-metal, and classic rock.

Born in Niigata, Japan, Sawayama moved to London at a young age and released her debut EP, Rina, in 2017. After signing with Dirty Hit, she gained critical acclaim for her debut studio album, Sawayama, and continued to captivate audiences with her second album, Hold the Girl, released in September 2022. Besides music, Sawayama has ventured into modeling and recently made her acting debut in the film "John Wick: Chapter 4" (2023), showcasing her multifaceted talents.
