About

Fontaines D.C., the acclaimed Irish post-punk band, recently delivered a memorable performance for NPR Music's Tiny Desk (home) concert series. Filmed at Chicago's Irish American Heritage Center, the set featured lead singer Grian Chatten showcasing his talents on the button accordion while performing the haunting ballad "The Couple Across the Way" alongside cellist Maureen Dunne and violist Isaac Henry. This performance provided a glimpse into the band's latest album, Skinty Fia, which combines traditional tunes with their signature atmospheric post-punk sound.

Formed in Dublin in 2017, Fontaines D.C. is comprised of Grian Chatten on vocals, Carlos O'Connell and Conor Curley on guitars, Conor Deegan III on bass, and Tom Coll on drums. The band gained recognition with their debut album, Dogrel, released in 2019, which garnered critical acclaim and several awards, including Album of the Year on Rough Trade's website and nominations for the Mercury Prize and Choice Music Prize. Their subsequent album, A Hero's Death, released in 2020, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album.

Fontaines D.C.'s latest album, Skinty Fia, marked a milestone for the band by reaching number one on both the Irish Albums Chart and UK Albums Chart. Their unique blend of poetic lyricism and post-punk energy continues to resonate with audiences worldwide, solidifying their position as one of the most exciting contemporary bands in the music scene today.
