About
Mount Kimbie, an English electronic music group formed in 2008, recently performed at NPR Music's first electronic Tiny Desk Concert. The duo, consisting of Dominic Maker and Kai Campos, showcased their unique blend of dubstep, drum and bass, reggae, and UK garage to captivate the audience. Through the use of drum pads, MIDI controllers, live drums, and guitars, Mount Kimbie created mesmerizing soundscapes during the concert.
The performance featured tracks like "Maybes" that seamlessly combined groundbreaking rhythms with pristine timbres, creating an intimate listening experience between the musicians and the audience. Mount Kimbie's music is known for its precision and spontaneity in arrangements, drawing in fans both in the UK and the US. The duo's debut album "Crooks & Lovers" in 2010 and subsequent releases on Warp Records have solidified their reputation as innovative artists in the electronic music scene.
Collaborations with renowned artists like James Blake and King Krule have further expanded Mount Kimbie's reach and influence in the industry. With the addition of live members Marc Pell and Andrea Balency-Béarn, the group continues to evolve their sound, culminating in their recent release "MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning" and anticipation for their upcoming fourth album, "The Sunset Violent."
