Black Prairie, a roots-folk band formed by members of The Decemberists, recently delivered a captivating performance at a Tiny Desk concert. The band's sound has evolved to incorporate more members and diverse elements, including sweetly countrified vocals and violin from Annalisa Tornfelt. During the concert, Black Prairie showcased richly layered versions of songs from their album "A Tear in the Eye Is a Wound in the Heart," blending darkness and light in a snappy, lilting manner. The six-piece string band from Portland, Oregon, has been charming audiences since its formation in 2007 and released their debut album "Feast of the Hunter's Moon" in 2010 under the Sugar Hill label.
