Mother Falcon, an Austin chamber-rock band, recently made a notable appearance at NPR Music's Tiny Desk concert, marking a milestone as the largest ensemble to perform behind Bob Boilen's desk. With 17 members who play a variety of instruments including guitars, horns, keyboards, woodwinds, and strings, Mother Falcon delivered a unique and impressive performance. The group, known for its wide-ranging instrumentation and collaborative songwriting, was formed by bandleader Nick Gregg in 2008 and has since grown to include a collective of over twenty musicians. Their symphonic rock style and experimental approach to music have garnered them attention and acclaim, with highlights including performances at SXSW and the release of their final album "Good Luck Have Fun" in 2015. Despite scaling back after 2016, Mother Falcon continues to engage audiences with their innovative music and has ventured into new projects such as theatrical scores and music education camps.
