About
Highasakite, an indie pop and indie rock band from Norway, recently performed at the Tiny Desk concert, bringing their powerful pop sound filled with drama to the intimate space. Led by vocalist and songwriter Ingrid Helene Håvik, the band's performance featured unique elements like the flugabone played by Kristoffer Lo.
Their set included songs from their 2014 album "Silent Treatment," with titles reminiscent of a crime novel. Tracks like "Leaving No Traces," "I, The Hand Grenade," and "The Man on the Ferry" showcased the band's mysterious and dark lyrical style, complemented by the haunting sound of the flugabone and Håvik's captivating vocals.
Highasakite was formed when Håvik met drummer Trond Bersu while studying jazz at the Trondheim Jazz Conservatory. The band quickly started working on their debut album, "All That Floats Will Rain," which was released in 2012, marking the beginning of their career in the music industry.
Their ability to transform large, impersonal spaces into intimate affairs with their music was evident at the Tiny Desk concert, where they mesmerized the audience with their unique sound and captivating performance, making them a new favorite for many.
