Scottish progressive hip hop group Young Fathers recently took on the challenge of performing at NPR's Tiny Desk concert series. Known for their intense, hip-hop-infused poetry, their performance featured a quieter, more contemplative approach with just two songs that spanned four minutes, showcasing their powerful lyrics and musical possibilities.

Young Fathers, formed in Edinburgh in 2008, has received critical acclaim for their work. Their second EP, Tape Two, won the Scottish Album of the Year Award, and they won the prestigious Mercury Prize for their debut album, Dead, in 2014. Their subsequent albums, including White Men Are Black Men Too and Cocoa Sugar, have also garnered attention and accolades, solidifying their status as a unique and innovative musical group.

Despite the constraints of the Tiny Desk setting, Young Fathers delivered a compelling and brief performance that highlighted their poetic intensity and musical talents, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
