About

British rock band IDLES brought their fierce and cathartic rage to a memorable Tiny Desk Concert performance that left a lasting impact. The band, known for their energetic and intense live shows, delivered a loud, fun, and raucous performance at NPR's headquarters, making it one of the most memorable Tiny Desk Concerts to date.

IDLES, formed in Bristol in 2009, consists of Adam Devonshire on bass, Joe Talbot on vocals, Mark Bowen and Lee Kiernan on guitars, and Jon Beavis on drums. After years of perfecting their live performances, the band gained critical acclaim with their debut album "Brutalism" in 2017, followed by increased exposure with their second album "Joy as an Act of Resistance" in 2018, and their first UK number 1 album "Ultra Mono" in 2020. Their fourth album "Crawler" was released in 2021, and their fifth studio album "Tangk" was released in 2024.

The concert was filled with notable moments, including guitarist Mark "Bobo" Bowen dancing frenetically on a bar, with his guitar still playing until it accidentally shattered some low-hanging lighting fixtures. Although there was initial talk of unconventional set-ups like pocket-sized guitar amps, the band's performance ended up being a full-throttle, high-energy experience that showcased their signature sound and stage presence. The concert was praised for capturing the essence of IDLES' intense and electrifying live performances, making it a standout Tiny Desk Concert.
