About

Screaming Females, a rock band hailing from New Brunswick, New Jersey, recently delivered a powerhouse performance at NPR Music's Tiny Desk concert series. Led by the formidable guitarist and vocalist Marissa Paternoster, drummer Jarrett Dougherty, and bassist "King Mike," the trio showcased their signature loud and energetic sound in an intimate setting. Paternoster's intricate guitar work, blending melody with wild solos, was on full display, notably in their new song "It All Means Nothing" from their upcoming fifth album, 'Ugly.' Despite the stripped-down setup, the band's raw talent and keen songwriting prowess shone through.

Formed in 2006, Screaming Females didn't fully embrace a balance of melody and explosive guitar solos until their 2010 album, 'Castle Talk.' Paternoster's virtuosic shredding skills and soulful vocals are a cornerstone of the band's identity. While their performance at Tiny Desk featured a quieter rendition of "Little Anne," the band couldn't resist unleashing their full rock 'n' roll force in the electrifying "I Don't Mind It." Throughout their career, Screaming Females have shared stages with iconic bands such as Garbage, Dinosaur Jr., and The Breeders, solidifying their place in the American rock scene.
